For my first Friday Night Sew In, I decided to tune in to the Olympics and work on machine quilting this lap quilt. I enjoy the piecing of a quilt, but it seems I always get slowed down by the quilting. Can you relate? I've been wondering if it is somehow connected to my machine needing a tune up. Anyway, I was able to make some real progress and hope to post photos of a finished product soon.
Did you participate in the Sew In?
How much were you able to finish?

I found your blog through Kate (we were good friends back in high school), so don't think I'm a strange stalker. I just recently found the world of quilting blogs and she gave me the link to yours.
ReplyDeleteThat being said, last night I didn't get much sewing done but instead had a "Saturday night sew-in" sort of thing with the husband. Hand-quilted a square and a half (10" squares) on the queen-sized quilt I'm making. Oh, and this afternoon I finished piecing the baby quilt I'm working on and basted the layers together so I can start quilting it (first quilt to machine quilt ever!) tomorrow or Monday.
Anyways, hi, love the blog, and you're on my RSS reader so I can ogle your quilts. :) I wish I had more time to sew...someday, I guess!
I love quilting on my machine and I can understand how it can slow you up a bit (heck, the pinning alone is enough to drive me mad). I find a fresh needle usually does the trick. And I always clean out under the needle plate before and after quilting something. It gets mighty fuzzy under there!
ReplyDeletelove your quilt, oh look at those browns!!!!
ReplyDeleteI made a quilt like this in plaids , maybe i Need to make one in browns too!
Kathie
Very, very nice!
ReplyDeleteThis is one of my favorite quilt patterns. I am so like you when it comes to quilting. Actually, I hate pinning the quilt sandwich. The worst part is trying to squeeze the quilt through the arm of my machine. I sold quilt tops on ebay years ago. I never had a problem selling them, because there are people out there who hate piecing a quilt and just love the quilting part.
ReplyDeleteCan't wait to see this quilt finished.
Take care,
Karen
